Gov Alia names VC for new Benue varsity, makes 8 other appointments

Governor Hyacinth Alia has appointed Prof. Msughter Amua as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of the newly established Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology, located in Ihugh.
The announcement was made through a press statement issued by Mr. Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and distributed to journalists in Makurdi on Saturday.
According to Kula, the governor also approved eight additional appointments across various institutions and government bodies in the state.
Among the new appointees are Dr. Johnson Echor, who will serve as the university’s Registrar; Mr. James Ormye, appointed Bursar; and Dr. Demekaa Umbur, who takes on the role of Librarian.
Further appointments include Prof. Boniface Ode as Provost of the College of Education in Oju, and Dr. Tyodoo Iyue as Provost of the College of Education in Katsina-Ala.

“The governor also approved the appointment of Mr Joseph Kwaghgba as the new acting Chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Service,” Kula stated.
“Anta Igbaato has also been appointed as the acting General Manager, Benue State Sanitation Authority, and Bem Tseem, acting Executive Secretary, Teaching Service Board,” he noted.
All newly appointed officials are expected to assume their roles starting July 7.
Kula added that Governor Alia had extended his congratulations to the appointees, urging them to uphold the trust placed in them by delivering on their responsibilities with commitment and excellence.
“This development is in furtherance of the governor’s commitment to repositioning all institutions of government for optimal service delivery, efficiency and accountability.
“The new appointees were carefully selected based on their track record of competence, dedication and integrity.
“The present acting Executive Secretary, Teaching Service Board, and the acting chairman, Benue Internal Revenue Services, are both directed to report back to the Head of Service, for reassignment of other responsibilities.
“The acting General Manager, BENSESSA, is to report back to the governor’s office,” the statement said.
