JUST IN: Tension at PDP headquarters as security operatives order BoT members out of meeting hall

A tense atmosphere unfolded on Thursday at the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja, as security operatives barred members of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) from holding a scheduled meeting.
According to eyewitness accounts, a significant number of security personnel were deployed to the party headquarters with strict orders to prevent any gathering. The operatives stormed the NEC hall—where the BoT meeting was meant to take place—and ordered everyone present to vacate the premises.
Sources within the party told Daily Trust that the move was not only unexpected but has further heightened internal tension within the main opposition party. Some BoT members were seen huddled in quiet conversations outside the building, expressing shock and disappointment over the development.

A senior security officer was reportedly heard instructing his team to ensure that no individual or group remained within the secretariat premises, signaling a deliberate attempt to stall the meeting.
“Make sure nobody is in the hall there. That is the instruction. I heard there is another hall upstairs. Make sure nobody is meeting there,” he ordered.
The PDP has been embroiled in crisis since the conduct of the presidential primaries for the 2023 general elections with almost all the organs divided into two camps.
The latest crisis over who is the National Secretary of the party has sparked confusion, with the acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Damagum and the Deputy National Chairman South, Taofeak Arapaja leading different camps of the NWC.
