Saudi authorities approve burial of Aminu Dantata in Madina

The government of Saudi Arabia has granted permission for the remains of Aminu Dantata, a renowned Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, to be transported from Abu Dhabi to the sacred city of Madina for burial.

The confirmation came from Mustapha Abdullahi Junaidu, who served as the late Dantata’s Private Principal Secretary. He shared the news in a Facebook update on Sunday.

“Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulilah Alhamdulillah, I have received approval to take Aminu Alhassan Dantata from Abu Dhabi to Madina, he will be buried tomorrow morning by the grace of Allah,” he wrote.

Dantata passed away in the early hours of Saturday in an Abu Dhabi hospital following a short illness. He was 94 years old.

The family earlier announced that, in keeping with his final wishes, the late industrialist would be laid to rest in Madina beside his wife, Rabi’a Dantata, who passed away in 2023.

On Saturday, a special Islamic funeral prayer known as Salatul Ga’ib was held in Kano to honour the deceased. The event drew a large crowd of mourners, including high-profile individuals such as Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
