BREAKING: Renowned Kano business mogul, Aminu Dantata, is dead

Aminu Alhassan Dantata, a renowned Kano-based entrepreneur and philanthropist, has died at the age of 94.
The announcement of his passing was made on Saturday by his Private Secretary, Malam Mustapha Abdullahi-Junaid.
“Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of our beloved father, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.
“May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus and forgive his shortcomings. Details of the Janazah will be shared later, in sha Allah,” Junaid stated.
Dantata belonged to the illustrious Dantata family and was known for his vast contributions to business, education, Islamic scholarship, and humanitarian efforts.
He played a key role in growing the family’s commercial legacy, which traces back to his father, Alhaji Alhassan Dantata — one of West Africa’s most prominent merchants in the early 1900s.
Over the years, he broadened the family’s business reach, venturing into industries such as construction, manufacturing, banking, agriculture, and oil and gas.
Dantata also held influential positions across both public and private sectors and was instrumental in nurturing new generations of business leaders and public servants.
He was admired not only for his business acumen but also for his humility, spiritual commitment, and dedication to improving communities throughout Northern Nigeria.
Through both his foundation and personal giving, he funded the establishment of educational institutions, mosques, healthcare facilities, orphanages, and other social welfare initiatives.
The family noted that further information on funeral arrangements would be made available in due course.
