Iran accuses Israel of continued strikes despite ceasefire announcement

Tensions remain high in the Middle East as Iran’s armed forces have accused Israel of continuing airstrikes on Iranian territory even after a ceasefire was publicly declared by U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to Iranian military sources, Israeli forces allegedly carried out strikes into Tuesday morning, targeting sites within the Islamic Republic despite the truce agreement announced just hours earlier by Washington.

President Trump had on Monday declared a “complete and total ceasefire” between Iran and Israel, following weeks of escalating hostilities and retaliatory attacks. The ceasefire was expected to take immediate effect, sparking hope for de-escalation in the region.

However, Iran’s armed forces now claim that the ceasefire announcement did not halt Israel’s offensive, raising concerns about the truce’s viability and the risk of renewed confrontation.

“The Zionist regime launched three waves of attacks on sites in Iranian territory until 9:00 am (0530 GMT) today,” a spokesman for the armed forces command was quoted as saying on state TV, without providing further details.
