Lamido’s outbursts reflect desperation within anti-Tinubu bloc – APC G3

The APC Grassroots Governance Group (APC G3) has described recent comments made by former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, as a sign of growing desperation and frustration among those opposing President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Lamido, speaking on live television, alleged that President Tinubu supported the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election. He further claimed that Tinubu only gained prominence following the formation of NADECO and accused the President’s mother, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, of mobilising market women in favour of the annulment.
Reacting to the remarks, APC G3, through a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Amechi Chuks Oyema, suggested that Lamido’s comments may be part of a wider strategy by opposition figures to express their discontent, following what the group described as a loss of public confidence.
“Remember one of them who was Speaker for 8 years, Governor for 8 years and Super Minister for 8 years saying he is hungry just 2 years out of power. They want to continue to feed fat on Nigerians,” the group said.
The group also pointed to the past political records of other opposition leaders, saying they are being scrutinised by Nigerians who now question their credibility.
“For another leader of the coalition, the people of Southern Kaduna are in a hurry to forget his 8 years in power.
“While for another of them, Nigerians can not forget how he managed the privatisation process during his time in office. These are the people telling Nigerians they have a solution to our economic crisis,” the statement added.
APC G3 further alleged that Lamido’s statements could be part of coordinated efforts aimed at undermining President Tinubu, who they argue is focused on addressing the country’s systemic challenges.
“Hence, we in APC G3 believe they may be working with Lamido and several others to get back at the President who is concerned with dealing with the fundamental issues bedevilling the country.
“Nigerians cannot be deceived, the bold initiatives may be painful for now, but they are necessary to give our country a better and sound economic foundation,” the group said.
