Two men who appeared in a viral video allegedly smoking marijuana while sitting atop a police patrol vehicle and gesturing obscenely at law enforcement officers have been arraigned and remanded in prison custody.

According to a statement posted on Friday by Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, via X (formerly known as Twitter), the suspects—identified as Patrick Junior Asini, 34, and Tega Ojo, 20—are facing a three-count charge at the Oghara High Court.

The charges include cyberbullying and cyberstalking, said to be in violation of Sections 24 and 27 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, along with additional allegations.

“The two suspects have been charged to the Oghara High Court and presently remanded at Sapele prisons on a three-count charge of count 1-Cyberbullying, Cyber Stalking contrary to sections 24&27 of the Cybercrime Prohibition Act amongst other charges,” the police spokesperson stated.

The pair was taken into custody following the circulation of a video that showed them allegedly smoking a substance believed to be cannabis while sitting on a police patrol van marked “Nigeria Police Force Anti-crime Patrol, Oghara Division.”

The clip, originally uploaded by user #dammiedammie35, captured one of the individuals seated on the van smoking, while a voice in the background can be heard saying: “Tell them, f*** the cops, bro. Pass me some weed, man,” and making an obscene hand gesture in the direction of a police officer.

The footage, believed to have been shot at a car wash, sparked widespread backlash on X and prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
