A lady identified as Chioma Nnabuike was on Friday arraigned before a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over allegations of threatening to kill her lover.

Nnabuike, a resident of Old Kutunku in Gwagwalada, is facing charges of criminal intimidation, trespass, and mischief.

According to the prosecutor, Abdulahi Tanko, the case was brought to the attention of the police by Mr. Nnaji Emmanuel, who resides at the same address as the defendant. The incident was formally reported to the Gwagwalada Police Station on April 8.

Tanko told the court that on February 18, the defendant allegedly contacted the Igbo chief and issued a threat against Emmanuel’s life, vowing to kill him if she discovered a condom in his possession again.

He further stated that Nnabuike threatened to cripple Emmanuel should he refuse to marry her.

The prosecution also claimed that the defendant unlawfully entered Emmanuel’s room and removed some of his belongings without his consent. The items were said to have been recovered during the course of the police investigation.

Tanko noted that the alleged offences are in violation of Sections 396, 342, and 326 of the Penal Code.
Nnabuike pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Presiding over the matter, Senior Magistrate Munir Sani granted bail in the sum of N500,000.

The court ordered that the surety must be a pastor residing within the court’s jurisdiction, and must provide valid proof of identity such as a National Identity Card or driver’s licence, along with documentation confirming his pastoral status.
The matter was adjourned until July 29 for hearing.
