(JUST IN)Yelwata massacre: President Tinubu arrives in Benue

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, as part of his official visit to address the worsening security crisis in the state.

Touching down at the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base around 12:58 p.m., the President was received by top government officials and security operatives.

His visit comes in the wake of persistent violent attacks in parts of the state, especially the Yelwata community in Guma Local Government Area, where numerous lives have been lost. As part of his itinerary, President Tinubu is expected to meet with key stakeholders and traditional rulers to discuss sustainable strategies for restoring peace and security.

To mark the significance of the visit, the Benue State Government declared Wednesday, June 18, a public holiday, allowing residents to participate in or observe the president’s engagements.
