Police grills Pastor Adefarasin over viral gun video

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that it is currently interrogating the Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, following the circulation of a viral video in which he appeared to be holding a firearm.
The video, which surfaced online on June 6, 2025, showed Pastor Adefarasin inside his vehicle, lowering his tinted window while holding what looked like a pistol. The clip quickly stirred widespread concern and debate across social media platforms.
In the clip, a car spotter quickly apologised after seemingly capturing the incident on camera. “Boss, boss, sorry sir, sorry sir,” the man was heard saying as Adefarasin drove away.
Following the incident, Pastor Adefarasin denied allegations of brandishing a firearm, insisting that the object seen in his hand was not a weapon. “You might be aware of a video circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm. I want to assure you that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone,” he clarified in a statement.
In a fresh development on Monday, the Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Adefarasin voluntarily turned himself in at the Command’s Headquarters in Ikeja. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, detectives are currently questioning the clergyman over the circumstances surrounding the viral footage.
“No one is above the law. Pastor Paul Adefarasin has turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, and he’s currently being interrogated by detectives who have commenced investigation on the case since a video surfaced online showing the pastor holding a gun-like object against another road user, while driving in an unregistered vehicle,” Hundeyin stated.
He added that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once concluded.
