CAC announces fresh hike in service fees

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced plans to review and implement a new structure for its service fees, effective August 1, 2025.

In a public notice issued on Tuesday, the commission said the adjustment became necessary following a careful evaluation of prevailing economic realities and the rising cost of operations. According to the CAC, the move is also a result of extensive consultations with key stakeholders in Nigeria’s corporate and business sectors.

The commission noted that the revised fees are designed to enhance service delivery by supporting technology-driven processes, ensuring faster and more efficient access to business registration and compliance services..

“The Commission wishes to inform the General Public, Esteemed Customers, and all Stakeholders that in the continued efforts to improve its service quality and delivery, it has become necessary to review certain service fees effective the 1st day of August 2025,” the CAC stated.

The commission noted that the new rates are modest, competitive, and aligned with its mission to enhance digital operations and maintain the credibility of the corporate registry in Nigeria.

The revised fee structure will affect companies, limited partnerships, business names, and incorporated trustees. Notably, the fee for voluntary striking-off has been increased from ₦25,000 to ₦50,000 for small companies, and ₦100,000 for public entities. Similarly, relisting a company will now cost ₦50,000 for LTD/GTE companies and ₦100,000 for public companies.

Due diligence search via self-service has been pegged at ₦50,000 across all company categories. Furthermore, the fee for requesting an extension of time to hold an annual general meeting is now ₦100,000 for public companies and ₦50,000 for other businesses.

Other reviewed charges include ₦25,000 for the restriction of a director’s residential address and ₦5,000 per certified true copy of documents or extracts. For business names, voluntary striking-off is now ₦10,000, while relisting has risen to ₦25,000.

The CAC maintained that name reservation fees will remain ₦1,000 for regular names and ₦5,000 for restricted words.

The commission assured the public that these adjustments were made in a bid to keep services sustainable, improve operational efficiency, and deliver better value to stakeholders.
