Abuja: First Baptist Church Gwagwalada celebrates Father’s Day

The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada, Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami has called on Christian fathers to always be responsible to the day to day welfare of their families to further ensure the betterment of the society.
In his sermon entitled “Responsible Men”, to mark this year’s Father’s Day celebration of the Church in Gwagwalada Abuja, Reverend Oyelami attributed most problems in today’s society to irresponsible attitude of some fathers in the home front.
Reading from the book of 1st Timothy chapter 5 verse 8, the Baptist Cleric noted that the task of repositioning the country required proper upbringing of children through responsible and Godly families.
While stressing the need for fathers to be good role models in all their endeavours, Reverend Deji Oyelami admonished them to always contribute their quota to national development.
Oyelami also enjoined christian fathers not to allow the present economic situation lead them to unGodly life that may deny them eternal glory.
Speaking on the theme of the 2025 Father’s Day celebration which is “Responsible Men”, the Vice President of the Church’s Men Missionary Union, MMU, Mr Rufus Ojoawo said the annual Father’s Day celebration which is in line with the injunction of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, was to celebrate fathers and remind them of their responsibilities both in the home front and their service to God and humanity.
Mr Rufus Ojoawo advised Christian fathers to always be steadfast in faith and prayers towards overcoming challenges hindering their being responsible added that the MMU of the Church would continue to embark on programmes that would make men to be alive to their responsibilities both in the church and the country at large.
Some of the fathers in the church who spoke on this year’s Father’s Day celebration expressed gratitude to God for sparing their lives to witness the day.
They used the occasion to appeal to Government at all levels to put in place programmes and policies as well as enabling environment that would enable Nigerian men to always live to their expectations in the society.
Highpoints of the Church’s Father’s Day celebration were special Royal Ambassador, R A and Girl’s Auxiliary, G A parade, talk show , drama and presentation of gifts as well as prayers for fathers.
