Hundreds of Social Media Influencers active on TikTok,on Sunday in Kano formed a movement to support the governorship bid of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin.
Known as “Malia Governorship TikTokers,” the group says it is out to propagate the ideals of Sen.Barau Jibrin, also known as “Barau Maliya”, which includes upliftment of the lives of the ordinary man,and promoting his governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group which was formally launched at the NUJ press centre, Kano, drew its membership from active TikTokers across the state.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the launch, the Convener, Murtala Hussaini Maikifi, said most of the TikTokers joined the movement on their own volition, believing that Sen.Barau is the best material for the Kano State governorship come 2027.
Maikifi said the main objective of forming the group is to propagate the ideals of Sen.Barau Jibrin and the service he is rendering to humanity, regardless of political party affiliations or religious sentiments.
Such service he said, include the establishment of the Northwest Development Commission, the upgrading of the Federal College of Education,Kano,to Federal University of Education, Kano, and the upgrading of the Federal Polytechnic, Kabo, to Federal University of Science and Technology, Kabo.
He explained that the TikTokers would assist in disseminating the service the Deputy President of the Senate is rendering to Kano State in particular and Nigeria in general.
One of the TikTokers, Halima Dan Tukur, expressed delight to be part of the “Maliya Project” aimed at promoting Sen.Barau’s ideals and realizing his governorship ambition.
“Some of us whom are active in the social media, especially the TikTok, have been longing to be part of the efforts to propagate the ideals of Sen. Barau Jibrin. So,I am happy to belong to this movement that is formed to drive that process,” Dan Tukur added.
