BREAKING Democracy Day Tinubu arrives NASS for joint session with lawmakers
Tinubu (4)

President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the National Assembly for a special joint session with lawmakers in commemoration of Democracy Day, held annually on June 12.

The occasion pays tribute to the historic June 12, 1993, presidential election—widely regarded as Nigeria’s freest and fairest poll—which was won by the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Abiola but was controversially annulled by the then military regime under General Ibrahim Babangida.

This year’s commemoration holds special significance as it brings together the nation’s top political leadership, including former presiding officers of the National Assembly, ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, and leaders of various political parties.

Some of the dignitaries in attendance are: Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume; Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje; former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Sarki; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Traditional Rulers, members of the Diplomatic Corps, among others.
