PAP administrator, Otuaro, hails King Ateke Tom for advancing peace in Niger Delta

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Royal Majesty, King Ateke Tom, the traditional ruler of the Okochiri Kingdom in Rivers State, as he marked his 61st birthday.
Dr. Otuaro was among the distinguished guests who attended the vibrant celebration held at the monarch’s palace in Okochiri, located in the Okrika Local Government Area, on Monday.
In his tribute, Otuaro praised the respected monarch as “a respectable leader whose reign has brought about unity, peace, progress and development around his community.”
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, the PAP chief further commended the traditional ruler’s enduring contributions to the peace, security, and development of the Niger Delta. Referring to King Ateke, who is also known as the ‘Sekuro of the Niger Delta,’ Otuaro said the royal figure remains a valuable asset to the region.

The PAP boss reaffirmed his deep respect for the traditional institution and highlighted the pivotal role played by monarchs in fostering harmony and progress across Niger Delta communities.
He noted that the Presidential Amnesty Programme is working in partnership with traditional rulers to reinforce its peace-building efforts across the region.
Otuaro also emphasized the federal government’s commitment to the programme under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, noting that it aims to bridge the human capital development gap in the region through academic scholarships and vocational training in sectors such as aviation, maritime, agriculture, and other skilled trades.
He stressed the inclusive nature of his approach, particularly the incorporation of women from the Niger Delta into various empowerment and development initiatives to bolster the region’s socio-economic landscape.
Focused on delivering impactful service, Otuaro stated he remains undeterred by critics.
He also urged all regional stakeholders to stay committed to preserving the hard-won peace, saying it was essential for sustainable development and economic advancement in local communities.
Otuaro further thanked King Ateke Tom for his steadfast support of the Amnesty Programme and offered prayers for his continued good health, long life, and a successful reign.
