Nigeria wins Unity Cup after victory over Jamaica

In an intense showdown on Saturday, Nigeria’s Super Eagles triumphed over Jamaica with a 5-4 win in a penalty shootout to claim the Unity Cup.

The match ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw during regular time, with Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze each netting a goal in their respective halves, pushing the contest to penalties.

The 2025 Unity Cup took place from May 27 to 31 at Brentford Community Stadium in London. The event was a lively celebration that combined football with a tribute to cultural heritage.

Featuring four teams — Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago — the tournament was designed to strengthen unity and pride within the African and Caribbean communities residing in London.

This year’s competition was especially meaningful as it marked the return of the Unity Cup for the first time since 2004, highlighting its role in fostering cultural appreciation and community solidarity.
