Lagos: Traditional ruler of Epe is dead

The traditional ruler of Epe Kingdom, Oba Shefiu Olatunji Adewale, has died at the age of 86.
The revered monarch reportedly passed in the early hours of Saturday, May 31, 2025. He will be buried later today according to Islamic customs.
Speaking on his demise, High Chief Musiliu Adeniyi, the Odedeogboro Balogun of Epe, confirmed the king’s death.
“The news is true. It was this morning. He will be buried 4’O clock today,” Adeniyi said.
Oba Adewale was the 19th Olu of Epe. Before ascending the throne, he held prominent traditional titles including Otun-Balogun and later Balogun.
Beyond his royal duties, he had a distinguished career in public service, retiring as a Director of Administration in the Ministry of Education. He also served as Executive Secretary in the Ministry of Lands.
