2-week water supply disruption hits Abuja as board tells residents what to do

Residents of Abuja are expected to face water shortages over the next two weeks as rehabilitation efforts continue at the Lower Usuma Dam, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Water Board has announced.
In a public notice, the board disclosed that essential upgrade works at its water treatment facilities will temporarily affect supply to both the city centre and surrounding areas.
The ongoing project involves the installation of electro-mechanical components at the treatment plants — a key phase in the overall rehabilitation process.
The water supply interruption began on Friday, May 30, and is scheduled to last until Friday, June 13.
“In view of this development, the FCT Water Board hereby appeals to the residents particularly it’s customers to kindly store water that May last them for this period, including an alternative supply to argument their need.Any inconveniences that might be experienced by our customers is highly regretted,” the statement read in part.
The board urged residents to make necessary arrangements to manage the disruption and assured them that efforts are being made to complete the work within the projected timeline.
