Musa quits Eagles camp as 2 other players opt out of training ahead of Unity Cup final

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has exited the team’s training camp in London and returned to Nigeria, citing personal matters, just days before the final of the 2025 Unity Cup.

Musa’s absence was noted during Thursday’s training session, which also saw some other players sitting out, including Wilfred Ndidi, Semilore Ajayi, and Cyril Dessers.

Their decision to miss training followed Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Ghana at the GTech Community Stadium on Wednesday.

Players who featured heavily in that match participated in light recovery routines under the supervision of the coaching staff.

Notably, Benjamin Fredrick — a former ABS FC defender and Nigeria U20 international — was seen training with the squad. Though not part of the initial call-up, Fredrick, who currently plays for Brentford in the English Premier League, joined the team’s session, which focused primarily on tactical drills led by head coach Eric Chelle.

The Super Eagles are preparing to face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final on Saturday. The Jamaican side secured their place in the showdown after a narrow 3-2 win against Trinidad and Tobago.
