INEC announces dates for Ekiti, Osun governorship elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  has announced the dates for the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states.

According to the commission, voters in Ekiti will head to the polls on Saturday, July 20, 2026, while those in Osun will cast their ballots on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, revealed the timetable during a swearing-in ceremony for six new Resident Electoral Commissioners.
The RECs were recently confirmed by the National Assembly.

“The commission is finalising arrangements for bye-elections to fill vacant seats in the National and State Houses of Assembly,” Yakubu added.
