Military needs our massive support, prayers to fully defeat terrorists – North-East youths

The North-East Youth Renaissance Group (NYRG) has called on Nigerians—especially residents of the North-East—to rally behind the Armed Forces of Nigeria in the ongoing fight against terrorism, noting that stronger public support and prayers could help end the region’s prolonged instability.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the group described the current security challenges in the region as grim but expressed optimism that the tide could turn with continued military efforts and citizen support.
Their remarks came in response to a thwarted attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on New Marte and the Forward Operating Base in Kumshe, Borno State. The attempted assault, which occurred Tuesday night, reportedly left at least 15 ISWAP members dead.
Troops also successfully repelled a coordinated offensive aimed at the base in Kumshe, according to the group.
NYRG Secretary, Bello Alhaji, praised the cohesion and operational synergy of the armed forces, attributing recent gains to the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Chris Musa.
“NYRG commends what has happened in Marte and Kumshe. It confirms our trust in the ability of the Armed Forces of Nigeria under the Chief of Defence, Gen. Chris Musa to defend our country,” he said in the press release.
He added, “The renewed jointness and team spirit in the fight against terrorism will ultimately bring lasting peace to enable socio-economic activities thrive in the North East region.”
The group further emphasized the role of citizens in supporting military personnel both morally and spiritually.
“Our role as residents of the North-East is to continue to pray for and support our troops as they seek to turn around the unenviable situation and sad tales our region finds itself now,” NYRG added.
