Hajj: 75-year-old pilgrim dies in Saudi Arabia

The 2025 Hajj pilgrimage has taken a somber turn for the people of Edo State following the death of a 75-year-old pilgrim, Adizatu Dazumi. Hailing from Jattu Uzairue in the Etsako West Local Government Area, Dazumi tragically passed away in Saudi Arabia during the sacred journey.
According to reports, the elderly pilgrim died on Monday at the King Fahad General Hospital in Makkah after a brief illness. She had reportedly taken ill shortly after completing the Tawaaf—a key rite involving the circumambulation of the Kaaba.
Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Musah Uduimoh, confirmed her death on Tuesday. He stated that Dazumi was taken to the hospital on Sunday after showing signs of illness but sadly passed away the following day.
“She was buried in Makkah on the same day, according to Islamic tradition, and her family in Jattu Uzairue has been informed,” Uduimoh said.
He sent his condolences to her family and assured other pilgrims that the board is committed to their health and safety.
