Tinubu meets FIRS chairman after FCTA sealed office in Abuja

On Monday, President Bola Tinubu held a crucial meeting with Zacch Adedeji, the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), at the State House in Abuja.
This meeting comes amid growing tensions following the recent closure of two FIRS offices in the Federal Capital Territory.
The shutdown was ordered by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who accused FIRS of failing to pay ground rent for over 25 years.
The closure has sparked criticism from the tax agency, which described the move as “malicious” and “unprofessional,” arguing that the property in question was under the management of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
Also at the Villa on Monday were the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake; Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; and the Governor of Borno State, Prof. Babagana Zulum, who held separate closed-door meetings with the President.
Tinubu also received the Managing Director of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Mark Okoye II, who had earlier announced the commission’s ambition to drive the region’s economy to $200 billion by 2035 in line with the President’s $1 trillion GDP target.
