JUST IN Tinubu sets 14 day deadline for FCT property owners to pay ground rent

In a bold move to enforce compliance and boost revenue, President Bola Tinubu has issued a 14-day ultimatum to property owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) who have failed to pay their ground rent.

The directive targets thousands of defaulters who owe arrears spanning a staggering 10 to 43 years.

This comes as the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) begins a sweeping enforcement action on 4,794 properties whose titles have already been revoked due to non-payment. On Monday, the FCTA began sealing several high-profile premises across Abuja.

Among the affected properties are the headquarters of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), an Access Bank branch in Wuse Market, a Total filling station in the same area, and an office of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in Zone 5.
