Akpabio empowers constituents says there won t be political party in 2027

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that political parties may no longer hold relevance in Akwa Ibom State by the time the 2027 general elections arrive.

Speaking at his midterm constituency briefing and empowerment programme at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium on Friday, Akpabio said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) no longer has the capacity to shield the people, adding that political lines in the state have effectively dissolved.

“As I speak with you, there is nothing like a political party in 2027 in Akwa Ibom State again. For the Senate of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial District, all political parties have collapsed to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio. For the office of the governor in 2027, all political parties have agreed to vote for Governor Umo Eno. Akwa Ibom has moved to vote for President Bola Tinubu, Eno for governor of Akwa Ibom State, and Senator Akpabio for Senate,” he said.

“The Peoples Democratic Party is in shreds and the umbrella can no longer protect.”

Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North-West in the National Assembly, used the event to distribute items to 1,690 beneficiaries. These included minibuses, tricycles, cassava processing equipment, power generators, cooking appliances, and other relief materials.

The Senate President commended Governor Umo Eno for his inclusive leadership style and deep faith.

“Umo Eno is a man of peace. Umo Eno is a man of God. I’m not talking about those who professed God with their lips. I’m talking of those who practice God in their heart. Umo Eno has brought all of us together,” Akpabio noted.

He also paid tribute to his wife, Unoma Akpabio, for her consistent support in uplifting the lives of citizens through various empowerment schemes.

“She does it because she knows hunger has no political party. My wife, please feed my people whether I am around or not. Keep on sharing. Akwa Ibom people will show you love soon,” he said.

Items handed out during the programme included 30 minibuses, 67 passenger tricycles, 50 cassava processing machines, 347 deep freezers, 247 generators, and truckloads of 50kg rice bags, along with financial support.

Following the empowerment event, Akpabio continued with the commissioning of multiple constituency projects. According to him, 68 infrastructure and development projects are slated for inauguration between May 16 and 17.

In his welcome address, the chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Area commended the Senate President’s enduring commitment to community development, tracing his service back to his days as a commissioner, state governor, and now a federal lawmaker.
