Police arrest ex-convict for attempted robbery on Lagos bridge

Operatives of Lagos Police Command, Ketu Division, have detained a 28-year-old former inmate, Olayinka Oluwaseyi, in connection with an alleged attempted robbery on Mile 12 Bridge during the early hours of Monday morning.
The suspect, reportedly armed with two knives, was caught around 1:30 a.m. while attempting to rob a male motorist.
Oluwaseyi’s arrest was made possible thanks to a quick response by a police patrol unit conducting routine surveillance in the area.
One accomplice managed to flee the scene, and efforts are underway were said to be underway capture him.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Oluwaseyi had recently been released from prison three months ago, having previously served time for a similar crime.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that Oluwaseyi remains in custody and will be taken to court once investigations are completed.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Ketu patrol team for their vigilance in preventing the robbery. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities, particularly traffic-related robberies that pose a threat to the safety of residents.
“We will not tolerate criminality in any form. Lagosians can rest assured that we are committed to making the state safer for all,” CP Jimoh affirmed.
He also called on the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behaviour to the authorities.
