Gunmen kidnap immigration officer from his Makurdi residence

An officer of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), identified as Simon Agbo, has been kidnapped by armed men at his residence in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening around 7:15 p.m. near NKST Church, Kuan, behind the Modern Market area.
According to a close relative who spoke to journalists in Makurdi on Monday, the assailants stormed the compound, firing shots into the air to disperse onlookers before forcibly taking Agbo to an undisclosed location.
It was gathered that Agbo was recently posted to the Benue State Command from Kwara State, following a redeployment in February.
Following the abduction, local youths and vigilante groups launched an immediate overnight search, though the effort did not yield results.
A younger brother of the victim, who identified himself simply as Agbo, revealed that a neighbour had been detained in connection with the incident.
He recounted, “The neighbour was consistently calling on the victim to come home or he should direct him to his location, as at that time, they needed to see him that fateful Sunday night, by all means.
“After persistent calls, that my brother should come home or, if possible, describe his whereabouts, my brother came home and went straight to his neighbour’s compound.
