2 education officials killed as Boko Haram’s bomb explodes on Damboa–Maiduguri road

Two staff members of the Damboa Local Education Authority (LEA) lost their lives on Monday following a bomb explosion along the Damboa–Maiduguri highway in Borno State.
The victims, identified as Blessings Luka and Gideon Bitterleaf, were reportedly travelling to Maiduguri from Damboa when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device (IED) suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to eyewitness accounts, the two officials were seated in the front of a Toyota Hiace van transporting mangoes when the blast occurred, killing them instantly and leaving several others injured.
A source at the Damboa Local Government confirmed the identities of the deceased, describing them as dedicated education personnel who were deeply committed to their duties.
Security forces have since secured the scene, and an investigation is underway to trace those behind the attack.
