 Trump stops India Pakistan war

After days of escalating violence between India and Pakistan, United States President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that both nations have agreed to an immediate cessation of hostilities.

“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He praised both governments for “using Common Sense and Great Intelligence.”

According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the truce was reached following extensive diplomatic efforts involving himself and Vice President J.D. Vance, who held discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif, as well as other senior officials from both countries.

“I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site,” Rubio stated in a post on X.“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace,” he added.

The breakthrough follows a night of retaliatory strikes launched by Pakistan, triggered by Indian attacks on three of its air bases. Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours had escalated rapidly, raising global concern.

Pakistan’s foreign minister also acknowledged the agreement, though the Indian government had yet to release a formal statement as of press time.
