NDLEA officer arrested for armed robbery attempt shooting of Bolt driver in Abuja

A serving official of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been taken into custody by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command following an attempted armed robbery and the shooting of a Bolt driver in Abuja.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on Saturday that police sources revealed the incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. on May 9. Authorities received a distress call from City View Estate, located in the Galadimawa area, indicating an armed robbery was in progress.

The suspect, said to be an Inspector serving with the NDLEA’s FCT Command, allegedly tried to forcefully seize a Toyota Corolla bearing the plate number KWL 736 SZ from Mr. Israel Emeka, a Bolt driver, while the vehicle was in motion.

During the encounter, the suspect reportedly fired a shot at the driver using a locally made firearm. Emeka was quickly transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Jabi, where he remains under medical care.

Responding promptly to the call, officers from the Galadimawa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), apprehended the suspect at the scene.

Authorities said they recovered a locally fabricated pistol along with two live cartridges from the individual.
