Estate surveyors, valuers key to Renewed Hope Housing Programme – Ata

The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Abdullahi Ata, has described estate surveyors and valuers as critical partners in achieving the goals of the Renewed Hope Housing Programme under the current administration.
Ata made this known while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abuja in commemoration of International Estate Valuation Day.
Calling for their active participation as ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Housing initiative, the minister emphasized the determination of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to tackle the country’s housing deficit. He reiterated the invaluable role of NIESV in supporting national efforts to expand affordable housing.
In a statement signed by Seyi Olorunsola, an aide to the minister, Ata specifically urged the institution to fully align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu. He stressed that all members must tailor their activities and professional services to the broader housing sector goals of the administration.
The minister pledged his unwavering support for the institution and assured the delegation that his doors remain open to ideas, partnerships, and innovations that could enhance collaboration and deliver results in line with the president’s vision.
Ata also extended his goodwill to the institute ahead of its 55th Annual Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM), scheduled for May 5–10, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, with the theme: “TRANSFORM, INVEST, THRIVE: Optimizing Real Estate Asset Finance and Taxation.”
He expressed optimism that the conference would be a successful and impactful gathering, further repositioning the real estate and valuation sector for growth.
“Your professional expertise ensures that land and property values are accurate and reflect fair market values, which is crucial for the state to provide cost-effective housing solutions,” the minister noted.
Earlier, NIESV representatives praised the minister for his exemplary leadership since assuming office and pledged their unwavering support for the housing initiatives under President Tinubu’s administration.
They also called for equitable treatment and recognition of estate surveyors and valuers within the Nigerian Civil Service.
International Estate Valuation Day serves as a platform to raise awareness about the significance of asset valuation in economic decision-making and financial stability. This year’s global theme, “The Importance of Asset Valuation in Financial Stability,” reinforces the need for credible valuation practices as a tool for unlocking Nigeria’s vast economic potential.
