Troops neutralise bandit in Taraba ambush

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have killed a suspected bandit and recovered an AK-47 rifle and a stolen motorcycle during a special operation in Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba State.
According to a report by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Sunday, the operation was carried out under Operation Lafiyan Jama’a following credible intelligence on the movement of bandits around the Fikyu axis of Ussa LGA.
Intelligence sources revealed that the ambush was staged at about 9:00 p.m. on Saturday near Gafar village.
“Troops laid an ambush along identified crossing points of the bandits in the area. At about 9:00 p.m., troops sighted some bandits moving towards Gafar, likely planning an attack,” a source said.
The troops reportedly opened fire on the bandits, killing one while the others fled into the bush.
After securing the area, the soldiers recovered an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle believed to have been stolen from a local resident. The recovered items are now in military custody for further investigation.
