Trump sparks outrage after sharing image of himself as Pope

United States President, Donald Trump, has stirred controversy by posting an AI-generated image depicting himself in papal robes.

The picture was shared Friday night on Trump’s Truth Social account, prompting swift backlash online.

The image comes weeks after the passing of Pope Francis, who reportedly died in April following a stroke and heart failure. Trump had been among the dignitaries who attended the late pontiff’s funeral.

However, many social media users condemned the AI-generated photo, accusing the president of disrespecting the memory of the pope.

“This is disgusting and entirely offensive,” one user wrote.

Another commented, “This is disrespectful to the church and God himself… he’s literally the antichrist.”

A third user posted, “How disrespectful to Catholics. That is what Trump and his maggots are all about, disrespect and meanness and stupidity. How dare you mock the process we Catholics go through to pick a new pope.”

Another added: “This is extremely disrespectful and narcissistic. Republicans really voted for that.”

Meanwhile, the Vatican announced earlier this week that the conclave to elect a new pope is scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 7.
