Panic as Colombian man found dead in 8th floor of Lagos hotel

An investigation is underway in Lagos following the sudden death of an 80-year-old Colombian national, Quesada Vanegas Ricardo Alfonso, whose body was reportedly found in a hotel room at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac Town.
Security analyst Zagozola Makama reported on Saturday that the police received a distress call on May 1 at approximately 3:45 p.m., alerting them to the discovery on the hotel’s eighth floor.
A police team, including homicide detectives, was immediately deployed to the scene to assess the circumstances surrounding the death, as panic gripped the area.
Preliminary findings indicate that the man had been residing at the hotel for over four months prior to his death. Authorities confirmed that no visible signs of violence or foul play were detected on the body.
“The corpse was evacuated and transported to Mainland General Hospital morgue in Yaba, where it has been preserved for autopsy. The coroner’s inquest and other necessary procedures have been initiated, with the investigation ongoing.
“Furthermore, some hotel management staff were briefly taken into custody for failing to maintain proper records of their guests. They have since been released as part of the investigation.
“The police assured that thorough investigation will continue to determine the cause of death,” said the sources.
