My new son’s resemblance to Ifeanyi scary, says Davido

Award-winning Nigerian singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about the striking resemblance between his newborn son and his late son, Ifeanyi, describing it as “scary.”
Ifeanyi tragically passed away in November 2022 after a drowning incident at Davido’s Banana Island residence. Months later, Davido revealed he had quietly tied the knot with his longtime partner, Chioma. In October 2023, nearly a year after Ifeanyi’s death, the couple welcomed twins—a boy and a girl. They later celebrated a lavish wedding ceremony in June 2024.
During a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido reflected on the uncanny similarity between his late son and his new baby. “And, the boy looks just like my son (Ifeanyi) that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him. We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back’ type stuff,” he said.

Discussing how the tragic loss reshaped his outlook on life, the ‘Unavailable’ crooner shared, “That type of loss made you just be like, ‘I’m out.’ I am just going to chill, take care of my wife and take care of the family and get my head right. To come back from that and…to be blessed with twins out the gate; a boy and a girl.”
He also revealed that the experience inspired him to encourage others facing difficult situations. Davido credited his marriage and the success of his 2023 album, Timeless, with deepening his faith. “God is real,” he affirmed.
Reflecting on his music career, Davido said he felt fulfilled seeing his dreams materialize after once watching other artists online.
Speaking about his ongoing collaborations with American singer Chris Brown, he noted they had recorded around 20 songs together. Asked about the possibility of a joint project, he replied, “We could put out two albums right now. It is going to happen. I am happy for Chris. I feel like he is back in his bag. He is celebrating his 20-year anniversary. I told him I was meant to go on this tour (Breezy Bowl, 20-year anniversary tour).”
Davido also confirmed his foray into film production, revealing, “I am an executive producer on a movie and a series with my director, Dammy Twitch. (We are) also working on my documentary.”
