EFCC nabs 3 behind fake university charging N1 3m fees Q Net scam in Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested three suspects allegedly involved in a fraudulent scheme linked to Q-Net and a fake university operating in Abuja.

In a statement released on Friday, the EFCC identified the suspects as Olaniyan Joshua, Oyetunde Akano, and Victor Oluwale. They were apprehended on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, and are currently undergoing interrogation.

According to the Commission, the suspects operated under the name “Mighty Infinity Millionaire Limited” and falsely presented themselves as representatives of Q-Net, a global e-commerce and direct selling company. Q-Net has since denied any association with the suspects or their activities.

According to the EFCC, investigations revealed that the trio also ran a bogus university, conducting lectures under trees and makeshift pavilions, and offering fake Bachelor of Science degrees in Medicine, Nursing, Cybersecurity, Computer Studies, and Geology, among others. They falsely claimed affiliation with Quest International University, Malaysia.

Victims were charged between N1.2 million and N1.3 million in registration fees, with the suspects reportedly raking in hundreds of millions of naira from unsuspecting students.

The EFCC recalled that on March 24, 2025, it had earlier raided “Q-Net University” at Compensation Layout, Gwagwalada, Abuja, where 133 suspects were arrested.
