Nigerian gov approves new minimum wage of N75 000 to workers

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved a new minimum wage of N75,000 for all public sector workers in the state.

The announcement was made during his May Day address at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Thursday.

The governor said the new wage reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers amid the rising cost of living.

In addition, Governor Okpebholo revealed that the government is currently reviewing the regularisation of over 3,000 EdoSTAR teachers who were employed as casual staff under the previous administration of Godwin Obaseki.

He assured workers that his administration remains committed to creating a more stable and rewarding public service environment.
