FG unveils timeline for new empowerment scheme for young farmers, agro-allied entrepreneurs

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD), has unveiled the schedule for the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP), aimed at empowering young farmers, food producers, and agro-allied entrepreneurs across Nigeria.
The ministry announced that the application window for the programme will close on May 31, 2025. After this date, the ministry will begin compiling beneficiary details through YEIDEP’s partner banks from June 1 to June 8, 2025.
“Beneficiaries will then engage with the ministry from June 11 to June 30, 2025, in preparation for the programme’s take-off for business financing and funds disbursement,” the ministry stated.
Following this, the funds will be distributed to beneficiaries in Batch A from July 1 to July 31, 2025. The focus of the programme will be on advancing youth-driven enterprises in agriculture, food production, and agro-allied industries, including livestock farming, staple food production, food processing, warehousing, packaging, marketing, and distribution of food products.
The government has clarified that the funding will be specifically directed towards young farmers and entrepreneurs in the food and agro-allied sectors. Youths interested in participating are urged to submit their applications before the May 31, 2025, deadline.
