BREAKING: Delta Gov Oborevwori dumps PDP

In a major political shift that has sparked intense reactions across the nation, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The defection was confirmed on Wednesday, April 23, following a high-level closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba.

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, disclosed the development during a phone chat with Vanguard, noting that the decision came after extensive consultations with key political stakeholders.

Oborevwori, who won the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP, said the move was taken in the best interest of Delta State’s long-term development and political stability.

He was warmly received by senior APC officials in what observers are calling a “strategic realignment” that could reshape the political dynamics of the South-South region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
