Burna Boy splashes N20m on Portable for defeating Speed Darlington in boxing match

Grammy-winning musician Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has generously awarded ₦20 million to singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, following his win in a celebrity boxing bout against Speed Darlington.

Portable shared the news of the gift on Instagram this past Saturday.
“₦20 million from Burna Boy. If you wanna be like Odogwu, can you do like Odogwu? God bless your family,” Portable posted.

According to reports, Portable has been celebrating his triumph over Speed Darlington, who has claimed that his loss in Saturday’s celebrity match was due to Portable’s alleged use of “juju” (charms).

Portable expressed his joy on Instagram following the Chaos in the Ring event, which was overseen by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control and took place at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos. He wrote: “Champion forever. I believe in those who believe in me. Na God dey run am. Orilomo.”

Later that same day, Portable posted another message, saying, “Joy full my body, money don land.”

Notably, Burna Boy and Speed Darlington have had an ongoing contentious relationship. In 2024, Speed Darlington accused Burna Boy of leveraging a connection with American rapper Diddy to secure his Grammy award.

This accusation led to Speed Darlington’s arrest in relation to defamation and cyberstalking charges against Burna Boy.
