Kano Hisbah arrests man over disturbing viral video with goat

Authorities with the Kano State Hisbah Board have taken a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, into custody following public outrage over a disturbing viral video that surfaced on social media.
Yakubu, a resident of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area in Kano State, was seen in the footage engaging in a highly inappropriate act with a she-goat.
The video, which quickly gained traction on TikTok, showed him appearing to lick the animal’s genitalia while instructing another individual to film the act.
The suspect later reportedly confessed that his actions were an attempt to attract online attention. In the footage, he can be heard saying he wanted “to trend” on social media platforms. The video has since drawn condemnation both online and within his local community.
Community members, outraged by the footage, initially threatened to take matters into their own hands. However, a local leader stepped in and alerted the Islamic law enforcement agency, Hisbah, which responded swiftly to the report.
During questioning, Yakubu denied actually making contact with the animal’s private parts. He claimed he only positioned his mouth near the area and insisted this was the first time he had done anything of the sort. He also assured authorities that he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time.
The Hisbah Board has since ordered that the suspect undergo psychiatric and drug evaluations to determine his mental and physical condition.
Reacting to the incident, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Mujahidden Aminuddeen Abubakar, strongly condemned the suspect’s behavior.
“It is tragic that a Muslim man would subject himself to such a disgraceful act, ignoring all religious and ethical values. This individual clearly lacks any proper understanding of Islam. His pursuit of cheap social media fame has led him into disgrace,” Sheikh Abubakar said.
The Hisbah Board reiterated its commitment to preserving moral standards and warned against acts that undermine the cultural and religious integrity of the state, especially when broadcast for public attention.
