Fresh tragedy in Benue as gunmen attack another community

Benue State has been hit by yet another wave of violence, as Emichi village in Otukpo Local Government Area came under heavy attack on Wednesday afternoon, leaving several persons feared dead.
According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers stormed the community around 2:00 pm, opening fire indiscriminately on residents.
The chaotic scene forced many to flee into the bush for safety, as no security personnel were present to repel the assailants during the assault.
This latest attack comes just 24 hours after 11 people were killed in Otobi-Akpa, also in the same local government area, allegedly by suspected herdsmen.
The back-to-back killings have sparked outrage and fear among residents, raising fresh concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the region.
Community leaders are calling on the state and federal governments to take urgent action to curb the escalating violence and protect vulnerable rural communities from further bloodshed.
