Niger : 6 die along Lambata-Lapai road

Six people lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving a tanker and a sedan on the Kitikpa Old Gawu stretch of the Lambata-Lapai Highway.
Security analyst Zagozola Makama reported that the incident occurred when a DAF tanker with registration number DKA 30X, driven by Ibrahim Umar from Kaduna State, was en route from Lagos to Kaduna. According to the report, the vehicle was being driven recklessly.
The tanker reportedly crashed into a sedan with registration number LFA 724 XA, which was being driven by Sule Abdullahi, a resident of Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory.
The crash left the sedan driver and five passengers with severe injuries. They were taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Lambata, where a medical doctor confirmed all six had died.
The victims’ remains have been moved to the hospital’s mortuary for proper identification and preservation.
Authorities have since towed both vehicles to the local police division. The Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) is expected to carry out a detailed assessment.
