JUST IN: Tension as bandits kill 6, abduct 56 in Katsina attack

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have carried out a deadly attack on Dandume Local Government Area in Katsina State, leaving at least six people dead and over 50 others abducted.

Residents reported that the attackers arrived on motorcycles early in the morning and opened fire indiscriminately, killing six individuals. During the raid, the assailants abducted at least 56 villagers, taking them away to an unknown location.

“Bandits just kidnapped 56 persons at Dandume in Katsina State and killed six persons this morning; we’re on our way there now for reinforcement,” a security source said.

When contacted, police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sodiq Aliyu replied, “Can’t talk now. Please text me.” However, no response had been received to the follow-up message as of press time.
