7 killed along Lagos-Ibadan expressway

A tragic collision involving three vehicles claimed the lives of seven people early Saturday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, near the NIPCO filling station.
According to Mrs. Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, the incident occurred around 7:00 a.m. and involved a Mack truck (SEY 363 YY), a tanker (T2900LA), and a commercial bus (LSD 180 YA).
Out of the 15 people caught in the accident—13 men and two women—seven lost their lives while four sustained injuries.
Okpe stated that the driver of the Mack truck was speeding and lost control, leading to the devastating crash.
“The injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital and Glory Center Hospital, Ibafo, while the deceased were taken to Idera morgue, Sagamu,” she said.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Mr. Akinwumi Fasakin, extended his condolences to the families of the deceased. He also appealed to those whose relatives traveled along that route but have not yet reached their destination to contact the FRSC office in Ibafo for assistance.
