Wike breaks silence on rumoured collapse, says I didn’t show any sign of health problem

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has broken silence on recent social media claims alleging he collapsed during a meeting in Abuja and was subsequently flown to France for medical treatment.
Addressing journalists on Thursday after inspecting ongoing projects in the territory, including the International Conference Centre (ICC), Wike dismissed these reports as baseless and politically motivated
He said: “I don’t want to give credence to people who are always interested in carrying rumours. First of all, I am a human being; it is not a ghost that will collapse, it is a human being that will collapse if there is any problem. But unfortunately, I didn’t collapse, and I didn’t show any sign that I have any health problem,” he stated.
Providing further context, Wike linked the rumors to political maneuvering, alleging they were a diversionary tactic.
“Let me tell you what happened. The former Head of Service of Rivers State came out to tell the public what was going on—how they planned to bomb the House of Assembly complex and had a plan to attack national assets. In order to divert attention, they had to spread one rumour that I had been flown overseas. There was never a time I collapsed; there was never a time anybody took me overseas,” he said.
