A tragic road accident along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Katsina State has claimed the lives of nine people, while 11 others sustained injuries.
The Katsina State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr. Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday.
According to preliminary findings, the crash involved a bus carrying 20 passengers and was caused by excessive speeding, which led the driver to lose control.
“The FRSC, Katsina State Command announced to the general public of an ugly incident of road traffic crash at Malumfashi town, on Malumfashi – Kafur Road.
“It resulted to the death of nine people travelling in a Hummer bus conveying 20 people, 11 persons were rescued and now receiving treatment at a hospital for varying degrees of injuries,” Ma’aji said.
He advised motorists to adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless driving, particularly during festive periods, emphasizing that despite government efforts to improve road infrastructure, unsafe driving habits continue to result in loss of lives.
