NBA mourns as chairman of Young Lawyers Forum dies

The President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, has expressed deep sadness over the death of Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum (YLF), Gwagwalada Branch, Khamis Umar.

In a statement on Friday, Osigwe described the late lawyer as a man who was passionately dedicated to the legal profession.

His words: “It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I mourn the untimely passing of my dear friend, brother, and colleague, Khamis Umar, the vibrant Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum (YLF), Gwagwalada Branch.

Khamis was more than just a committed bar man; he was a shining star, a beacon of hope, and an inspiration to countless young lawyers. His unwavering dedication to the legal profession, coupled with his infectious enthusiasm, kindness, and generosity of spirit, made him an invaluable asset to our noble profession.

Our bond was forged in the fire of shared passion, mutual respect, and mentorship. Khamis’s love for service, his genuine warmth, and his remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met, made him a beloved figure in our NBA family.

His sudden departure leaves an unfillable void in our hearts and in the Nigerian Bar Association. I am still struggling to come to terms with the loss of my dear friend and brother.

I extend my deepest condolences to Khamis’s family, friends, and the entire NBA Gwagwalada Branch. May Allah (SWT) grant you the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may He grant Khamis Umar Al-Jannah Firdaus.

Rest in peace, dear Khamis. Your memory will live on in our hearts, and your legacy will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence in our noble profession.”
