UniAbuja: Union leader dies after brief illness

The chairman of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), University of Abuja (UniAbuja) branch, Habibu Danjuma, is dead.

A statement shared on the university’s verified Facebook page, said the union leader died on Sunday after a brief illness.

The statement reads: “We regret to announce the death of Comrade Habibu Danjuma, chairman of the University branch of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

“Late Danjuma, a chief technologist in the Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, passed away in the early hours of today at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after a brief illness.

“Danjuma, who joined the University in 2007, was a dedicated staff member and unionist committed to the welfare of his colleagues.

“He was serving his second term as branch chairman, having been re-elected in January 2023 after previously holding the position from 2018 to 2022.

“Aged 53, he is survived by his wives, children, and aged father.”
