Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and several influential members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have joined forces with opposition leaders to form a political coalition against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election.

At an ongoing press conference, key political figures, including Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi (represented by Yunusa Tanko), former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, and former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, were present. Others in attendance include Peter Ahmeh, National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), and Segun Showunmi, Convenor of the Alternative movement.

Several prominent figures, including former governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), and ex-APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu, sent their apologies for being unable to attend.

The coalition’s formation signals a major political realignment, with both opposition and discontented APC members uniting in preparation for the 2027 elections. The group’s agenda is expected to challenge Tinubu’s leadership and propose an alternative political direction for Nigeria.
